Columbus ISD is thrilled to announce voters APPROVED the CISD May 2024 School Bond Propositions A & B. This bond will provide funding for much-needed additions and renovations to existing facilities, as well as the equipment and construction of a brand new Career and Technology Education (CTE) Vocational Trades building. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to voters for supporting this bond. Your approval of this bond will have a positive impact on our students, staff, and community for years to come.
We understand voters may be curious about the progress of projects as they are implemented. We also want to keep members of our community informed every step of the way, so we will provide project updates, answers to frequently asked questions, and more through this website!

Project Developments: Columbus ISD Construction Progress

June 23, 2025 – Site Demolition Complete
The second OAC meeting took place, and the team reported that demolition is now complete at both sites. Site preparation is underway, with dirt work in progress to get ready for building pad installation at both campuses in the coming weeks.

June 9, 2025 – First OAC Meeting
The first OAC (Owner, Architect, and Contractor) meeting took place. The construction schedule was reviewed, and job sites for both projects are now fenced and secured; Demolition is set to begin at both sites. OAC meetings will be held every two weeks to discuss construction progress.

May 28, 2025 – Pre-Construction Kickoff
A Pre-Construction Kickoff Meeting was held with PBK, Columbus ISD, and Drymalla Construction. The team introduced key members of the construction crew, walked through the projected construction schedule, and discussed startup logistics.

May 12, 2025 – Board Approval Given
PBK and Drymalla presented the proposed Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) to the Columbus ISD Board of Trustees. The Board approved the GMP during this meeting.

May 1, 2025 – Project Review and Planning
PBK Architects, Drymalla Construction, and Columbus ISD convened to review subcontractors, potential project alternates, and the proposed budget. Construction contingency planning was also discussed to ensure flexibility moving forward.

April 9, 2025 – Bid Opening
Columbus ISD and PBK Architects joined Drymalla Construction at their office for bid opening day. Drymalla selected subcontractors and developed a preliminary estimate for overall construction costs.

March 10, 2025 – Construction Drawings Issued
Final construction drawings were officially issued to Drymalla Construction, kicking off a month-long competitive bidding process.
